6033 Printer FAQs

  1. How do I get my printer to "beep" when the trigger is pressed?

    • The "beep" function was introduced February 2003. Older units prior to this date may need the firmware updated. Send the printer in to Service with a note requesting the latest firmware with the "beep" function installed.

    • Check the volume of the printer. Contact technical support for more information.

  2. Caution: The connection to the speaker may become disconnected if the printer was dropped or hit hard. Contact technical support for more information.

  3. My printer erases characters when I press the backspace button. Previous versions used to underline the character.

  4. Firmware version 1.5 of the 6032 uses the backspace key just like Scout 6020 and 6021 printers which erases characters. Reflashing the printer to version 1.5 or higher will update the printer.
Note:If your printer is still under warranty, send it to service with a note requesting firmware 1.5. This is covered under the standard warranty agreement that came with the printer.

  5. How can I print special characters like "? $ %" with my 6032 printer that are not listed on the printer keyboard?

  6.

  7. Are there no-print zones on the 6032 label?

  8. Yes, the no-print zone is the area at the beginning or end of a label, which cannot be imaged due to motor ramping or stock motion limitations. No-print zones also exist along the edge of the supply to account for supply drift.

  1. Leading Edge NPZ
There is no software imposed acceleration no-print zone. However, a 6 mm (0.235") no-print zone is recommended at the beginning of the label to ensure optimal print quality.

  2. Trailing Edge of Label NPZ
The recommended deceleration No-Print zone is 3 mm (0.115"). Imposing on the deceleration No-Print Zone may lead to poor print quality or truncated formats.

  3. Right side No-Print Zone
The recommended inside no-print zone is 1.5 mm (0.060”) to account for supply drift on supply less than 1.89" wide. For 2.0” wide supply, c = 0.055" (2.0 -1.89)/2

  4. Left side No-Print Zone
The recommended outside no-print zone is 1.5 mm (0.060") to account for supply drift on supply less than 1.89” wide. For 2.0” wide supply, d = 0.055” (2.0 -1.89)/2

  5. Image Width
    The maximum value for i = 48 mm (1.89").

  6. Supply Width
For peel mode, w not to be less than 0.50" and not to exceed 2.05".
For non-peel mode, w not to be less than 0.50" and not to exceed 2.0".

    Supply Tolerance
Feed direction supply tolerance is ±0.76 mm (±0.030”), Black Mark Feed direction tolerance is 0.12 mm (±0.005”).
